Links were established with Cardiff University and the University Playing Fields at Llanrumney were used as a home ground for a small number of home matches each season, together with Cardiff Parks pitches at Caedelyn, Blackweir and Pontcanna.

The 1990s growth of league cricket in South Wales made the task of maintaining a full fixture list difficult and the Club continued to be hampered by the lack of its own ground. Confident of the playing abilities of Club Members, Lisvane CC first entered midweek league competition in 1993, winning the new Vale of Glamorgan league in its first two seasons.

In 1995 the Club extended its league presence by entering the Thomas Carroll Midweek League. In both leagues, Cardiff YMCA's ground at St Mellons was hired for home games.

Success in midweek league cricket, coupled with burgeoning interest from the local community, led, in 1998, to the Club entering Division 5 of the two-side Glamorgan and Gwent Cricket Conference. Four seasons and a couple of league titles later, the Club found itself competing in Division 1 of the renamed Welsh Club Cricket Conference. An agreement on an annual basis with Cardiff University has secured the use of the University Playing Fields at Llanrumney for Saturday league fixtures.

In the late Summer of 2002 Lisvane CC were approached by the Whiteheads Bassaleg CC with a view to merging forces.  Benefitting from enhanced playing numbers and a home ground in Bassaleg, the newly-formed "Lisvane Whiteheads Cricket Club" played its first matches in the Summer of 2003.  With sides in the top two Divisions of the Conference, the first season saw consolidation, with all four Saturday League sides retaining their divisional positions without really threatening promotion.  The First XI reached the final of the League Cup, losing narrowly to Abertillery.  The Newport Midweek League side won their Division and promotion at the first attempt.
