All these boys played well, they can all hit boundaries, we have a good mix of right and left handed batsmen to fox the bowlers and the calling and running between the wickets had our opponents withering. Well done boys

U11 Griffins beat Whitchurch Heath by 105 runs
All pairs contributed with the bat and the quality of fielding was a notable point with 2 run outs and taking 7 wickets in total.
U13 Griffins (89 for 9) beat Cardiff B (88 for 1)
First match of the season saw U13 Griffins winning the toss and batting first against what was likely to be tough opposition. In spite being 5 down at halfway Will Youngs (16 no) held the tail together to reach a total of 89 for the loss of 9 wickets from our 20 overs. In reply Cardiff batted conservatively thanks to tight bowling from everyone and quickly fell behind the required run rate to leave them requiring a run a ball off the last 4 overs and eventually two to win off the last two balls. In the gathering dark, two dot balls saw the Griffins home and the on-field celebrations commenced.
U15 Griffins (69-6) lost to Radyr Golds (94-7) (18 overs per side)
A good performance all round saw the U15s go down chasing a challenging total in gathering gloom against a strong Radyr team. Individual perfromances of note were James Chubb (38 retd.) and William Clarke (3-0-10-2), but the conditions were probably the victors in the end.

The troops were fed royally with smokey bacon baps and cake and some of our brave youngsters even had a net!
Some jobs were not possible due to the wet conditions, so please watch this space for details of more opportunities to lend a hand and get the best looking ground in Cardiff ship-shape for the coming season. We are particularly looking for volunteer gardeners and, in particular, someone to prepare and tend decorative flower pots around the patio.
